Family Time and Hot Honey and Herb Whipped Feta Dip

There are few things better in life than gathering with family for good food, laughter, and a little bit of chaos. This past weekend was exactly that—college football on the TV, an impromptu dance party with my niece (she has the best moves), and baby snuggles with my sweet nephew that made everything feel just a little brighter.

It’s those simple moments—cheering together, laughing until our sides hurt, and watching kids light up the room—that remind me how powerful connection can be. Add in some delicious food, and it becomes a memory you want to hold onto forever.

There was a ton of amazing food at the family get together. We had taco pizza, ‘sausage ball’ pizza, cucumber bites with cream cheese and tomatoes on top, really amazing fruit, and the hot honey and herb whipped feta dip and the pigs in a blankets that I contributed.

The pigs in a blanket were pretty standard, those were made more to make the kiddos happy, but I wanted to take a moment to share how I made the dip. One thing you need to know about me though is that I never follow recipes, so I encourage you to use the below measurements and ingredients as a guide to get you started, but to add your own delicious twist to it!

Recipe: Hot Honey & Herb Whipped Feta Dip

Ingredients

  • 8 oz feta cheese

  • 8 oz cream cheese

  • ⅓ cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 4 garlic cloves

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tsp dried oregano

  • 2 tsp dried parsley

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 5 to 6 tbsp honey (more or less to taste)

  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme, for serving

  • Chives (optional), for serving

  • Pinch or two of red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

  • Baked pita. crostini, and/or fresh veggies, for serving

Instructions

  1. Add feta, cream cheese, Greek yogurt, garlic, olive oil, oregano, parsley, salt, and pepper to a food processor.

  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  3. Transfer the mixture to a serving dish.

  4. Drizzle generously with honey, then sprinkle with thyme. parsley, chives, and red pepper flakes.

  5. Serve with baked pita. crostini, and/or crunchy veggies.

Tip: You can make this dip a few hours ahead and keep it chilled until your guests arrive!

A Little Bit of Everything

As we dipped pita and veggies into the creamy, herby goodness, the house was alive with the best kind of noise—football cheers, tiny giggles, music playing during our niece’s dance party, and the soft coos of a baby being passed from one set of arms to another.

It was a reminder that the heart of family isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about creating space where everyone feels welcome, whether they’re eight months old or 64 years old.

It is a beautiful reminder of just how lucky I am to have family around - no matter how I identify ‘family’ - and to be surrounded with love, laughter, and a lot of good company.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the food—it’s about the love and memories we build around the table.
